|What is Shamanism?
My apprenticeship in Peruvian Shamanism has been an experience of sacred community with all beings, sacred connection with the Mother Earth, and sacred communion with Self.
Shamanism can be defined as the primal ground from which all spiritual traditions have emerged or the ancient religion of our ancestors, who took nature as their spiritual teacher. These indigenious spiritual roots have been preserved to present day and have many common practices and beliefs worldwide. The traditional wisdom which permeates these teachings in our modern world brings us back to our center, reminds us of our bond with the Earth, and our interconnection with one another. Shamanic practices include healing ceremonies for individuals and the Earth, and cultivating awareness of guidance through meditation, time with nature, vision quests, and inner journeys in order to reconnect with the Divinity in all. Shamans accesses the seen and unseen world to intercede on the behalf of their communities.
In our busy lives it is an invaluable asset to take the time to accept ourselves entirely, feel grounded and gain a sense of belonging. These practices help awaken us to the sacred reciprocity within all of creation.
As Sidhartha says, "...In order to learn to love the world and no longer compare it with some kind of desired imaginary world, some imaginary vision of perfection, but to leave it as it is, to love it and be glad to belong to it". With this acceptance comes peace.
Dr. Fresne has apprenticed since 1998 with several Shamans and passes the power of this tradition, her intuition and experience to her patients and students.
